Family Dentist

Our family dentist offers the following basic dental services:

Dental Fillings

We offer pain-free dental fillings for cavities. A cavity is caused from the eating away of the enamel of a tooth. Once it has gotten through the enamel, it continues to work its way to the interior of your tooth--which in turn, causes pain. It's important to have a cavity addressed as soon as possible to prevent further harm to the tooth or the chance for infection. To restore the tooth, our dental office uses dental fillings. Dental fillings go into the tooth and fill the space that the cavity created. The filling also removes any chance for further infection since it gets rid of any decayed tooth inside the hollowed out portion.

Our family dentist uses a tooth-colored composite bonding material to fill cavities in Gainesville or in Lilburn. The bonding material even helps to strengthen teeth. The longevity of a bonded filling depends on a few factors such as the location of the tooth being filled, the size of the cavity, and the biting force used in the filled tooth area.

Dental Sealants

No matter how well you brush and floss your teeth, food is still able to get into the cracks and crevices of your molar teeth, and this is why we offer dental sealants. The food debris causes staining and the eating away of enamel. Dental sealants are typically placed on molar teeth to help prevent the formation of cavities in the crevices of the tooth. The sealant is painted on your teeth by our family dentist and then set into place with a blue spectrum light. Once finished, the dental sealants will prevent the build-up of food and plaque on your back teeth. Sealants can generally last for around five years.

Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is often used when filling a tooth after a cavity has formed. It can also be used repair cracked teeth, fix a chipped tooth, fill spaces between teeth, or to fix a discolored tooth. The dental bonding material is mixed during the time of your appointment and usually is composed of a plastic or resin material. The composite material will be mixed to match the color of your tooth so that it looks natural.

Once the bonding material has been made, the tooth's surface will be etched in the area that needs to be bonded. An adhesive material will be placed on the tooth and then the bonding substance will be applied. The dental bonding material is hardened by a blue spectrum light and is finished in a matter of minutes. The entire dental bonding process typically takes between a half hour to an hour to complete. Dental bonding typically lasts for 5-10 years.

Dental X-Rays

Dental X RaysTebo Family Dentistry uses dental x-rays during each routine dental checkup in Gainesville or in Lilburn. They're a part of our preventative dental care procedures. Dental x-rays help your family dentist to diagnose the health of your teeth and gums. We generally will do a full mouth x-ray, panoramic x-ray, and some bitewing dental x-rays. Dental x-rays assist us in finding any vulnerabilities in your teeth. It may be difficult to see between the areas where your teeth touch, but with dental x-rays, our family dental practice is able to see them clearly and determine if there's any decay. If there is tooth decay, we can recommend the proper dental procedure to take care of it before it turns into a cavity.

Dental x-rays also help us to analyze the health of your gums. If you have a family history of gum disease, it is especially important to have your gums examined regularly since you are more prone to developing it. If our dental practice notices a potential issue with your gums that could lead to problems, we can recommend the proper gum treatments to help you maintain healthy gums.

Teeth Whitening

If your teeth are discolored from coffee, soda, or smoking, our family dentist can offer you teeth whitening kits that will improve the beauty of your smile in only 10 days. We will create a mold of your teeth and then make a tray for you which you can fill with the teeth whitening material that we will provide. Wear the tray once a day for 10 days and you will notice a dramatic improvement in the whiteness of your smile. Teeth whitening procedures typically need to be re-done every six months for creating a lasting white and bright smile.

Gum Treatments

Gum disease, or periodontal disease, effects many individuals in the Gainesville and Lilburn areas, and this is why we offer highly-effective gum treatments. To slow down the progression of gum disease or to help prevent it, brush your teeth after every meal. You should also follow proper flossing techniques and have a regular dental checkup at Tebo Family Dentistry every six months. Since there are various types of gum disease, there are also many types of gum treatments that our dental practice offers.

Our most popular gum treatment involves scaling and planing. Scaling helps to remove the tartar build-up in the space where your tooth meets your gum. It's a deep cleaning dental procedure that is then followed with planing. Planing smooths out the bottom surface of the tooth so the gum will rest nicely against it. Doing so helps to reduce the build-up of tartar in such a sensitive area. We will accommodate your needs during our scaling and planing procedure. If you feel as if you need to have sedation, our dental office can provide it for you to make you comfortable.
